Messier M51 Whirlpool Galaxy (binning trial) Messier M51 aptly nicknamed the Whirlpool Galaxy in the constellation of Canes Venatici with it's merge partner NGC 5195. Image Also in the image is IC 4278 - a Mag 15.4 irregular galaxy to the left of where the main galaxies join. IC 4277 - Mag 15.7 edge on spiral to the upper left corner of NGC 5195. The fuzzy blob in the tail of 5195 is a Quasi Stellar Object that I haven't been able to identify Link-words: Messier Galaxy
