Mars
Mare Acidalium is the prominent dark feature at upper left middle, while to it is just possible to make out Sinus Sabaeus and Sinus Meridiani. Barely visible is the polar cap as a faint bluish mark on the top limb. A huge white cloud covers almost the whole western hemisphere, this is are probably an early morning frost which burns off by about 11 o'clock local Mars time.
This image was captured using eyepiece projection on a 3 1/2 Questar telescope. The mount was driven. Several images of Mars were obtained over a short period of time. The seeing was fair. After the 35mm negative film was processed, it was scanned into Photshop? and specific frames were selected. The images were then added together reducing the amount of 'noise' in the film grain.
For comparison see a reference image on the right and a mixed image in the middle.
